El Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores francés informó que París «apoya todas las conclusiones» adoptadas por la Comunidad Económica de Estados de África Occidental (CEDEAO) durante una cumbre de emergencia sobre la situación en Níger tras el golpe de Estado celebrada este jueves.
De acuerdo con un comunicado, Francia acogió con satisfacción el hecho de que durante la cumbre los países miembros «reiteraran su determinación de restablecer el orden constitucional y democrático» en el país africano.

Cabe recordar que unas horas antes el presidente de Costa de Marfil, Alassane Ouattara, anunció que la organización apoya una intervención militar en Níger para destituir a la junta militar que gobierna el país desde finales de julio.
