República Dominicana. – El presidente de la República, Luis Abinader, encabezó este lunes en la Armada de República Dominicana, el lanzamiento oficial del programa de Transporte Escolar TRAE, un sistema de movilidad escolar que garantizará el desplazamiento gratis de niños hacia las escuelas.
Durante el acto, el presidente Luis Abinader atribuyó a factores económicos y la falta de transporte en algunos sectores, como las principales causas de la deserción escolar.
«Este programa cumple con el objetivo de mejorar y aliviar el presupuesto de las familias dominicanas», indicó el primer mandatario.
El transporte estudiantil, inició en enero del 2023, mediante un plan piloto con 50 autobuses propiedad de la Oficina Metropolitana de Servicio de Autobuses (OMSA), logrando con esa acción disminuir el abandono escolar en la Victoria, Yamasá, Peralvillo, Sabana Grande de Boyá, Bayaguana, Monte Plata, Haina, Nigua y Palenque, beneficiando a una población de 93,200 estudiantes de esas localidades y zonas aledañas.
Actualmente ya operan unos 400 autobuses, en el Gran Santo Domingo, alrededor de 230 unidades en 62 rutas escolares que incluye a Villa Mella, Sabana Perdida, Guaricanos, El Millón, Los Girasoles, La Feria, y Boca Chica, entre otras zonas.
En la actividad estuvo presente el ministro de Defensa, teniente general Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD, el comandante general de la Armada, vicealmirante, Agustín Morillo Rodríguez, así como funcionarios del gobierno, y una representación del alumnado dominicano.
Ojalá el programa sea ampliado y que funcione sin inconvenientes
