El mayor general Edward Sánchez González, Director de la Policía Nacional se mostró solidario este miércoles con los familiares de la pareja de esposos Eliza Muñoz Marte y Joel Díaz, quienes fueron asesinados por agentes policiales anoche en Villa Altagracia, mientras se dirigían a sus hogares luego de predicar en un culto religioso.
El director aclaró que ordenó a la oficina de Asuntos Internos e inspectoría general, junto al Ministerio Público, una investigación para esclarecer el hecho.
Sostuvo que la Policía Nacional tiene la responsabilidad de actuar apegada al respeto de los derechos humanos.
“Reafirmamos nuestro firme compromiso de actuar apegados siempre al debido respeto de los derechos humanos, actuaciones profesionales y cuando se produzca algún exceso, por tanto, somos vigilantes a que los miembros actúen apegados estrictamente al cumplimiento de la ley, vigilantes de los derechos de nuestros ciudadanos, nuestras condolencias a la familia y a la comunidad cristiana”, añadió.
Comunicó que la ciudadanía puede contar con una investigación transparente de la mano del Ministerio Público.
