El presidente Bolsonaro, sancionó la Ley de Presupuesto de 2021 con un importante recorte a la cartera de Medioambiente tan solo horas después de su participación en la Cumbre del Clima, en la cual prometió acabar con la deforestación ilegal antes de 2030 y reducir las emisiones de carbono.
Este jueves, el mandatario incumplió la Ley de Presupuesto que fue aprobada por el Congreso, aunque el jefe del Ejecutivo emitió vetos y recortes por más de 28.900 millones de reales (unos 5.277 millones de dólares).
Entre las modificaciones realizadas al presupuesto aprobado por el Congreso, Bolsonaro cortó alrededor de 240 millones de reales (unos 43,8 millones de dólares) del Ministerio de Medioambiente, según reportó Folha de Sao Paulo.
En tanto, el secretario del Presupuesto Federal en el Ministerio de Economía, George Soares, aclaró que podrían realizarse ajustes al monto destinado a la cartera de Medioambiente.
En la Cumbre de Líderes sobre el Clima, que fue organizada por su homólogo estadounidense, Joe Biden, Bolsonaro aseguró que acabaría con la deforestación ilegal en 2030 y que reduciría las emisiones de carbono en un 40 %, con la meta de alcanzar la neutralidad para 2050.
