Francisco ‘Batata’ Gerardo Rocha Chávez, era el candidato a diputado local por el Partido Verde Ecologista de México. Fue asesinado en su domicilio en Ciudad Victoria, en el estado de Tamaulipas, la madrugada de este sábado según medios locales.
Conforme con los reportes preliminares, el político y exfutbolista profesional fue hallado sin vida al interior de su auto a causa de las heridas de bala sufridas durante el atentado. Sin embargo, reportes extraoficiales señalan que pudo haber sido ultimado a golpes.
La Fiscalía estatal señala que las primeras averiguaciones indican que su asesinato se debió a un ajuste de cuentas por motivos personales «sin vinculación a cuestiones político-electorales, lo cual se corroborará con la investigación».
De su lado, el Partido Verde lamentó la muerte de su candidato y exhortó a las autoridades a esclarecer los hechos de manera pronta y oportuna, así como a los diversos partidos a no politizar lo ocurrido durante las próximas campañas electorales.
