Este jueves, China lanzó al espacio el módulo clave para la construcción de su estación espacial, dando inicio a una serie de lanzamientos con los que busca completar las obras para finales del próximo año.
El nombre que lleva el módulo es Tianhe y viajó a bordo del cohete Larga Marcha-5B Y2 desde el centro de lanzamiento de satélites de Wenchang, situado en la isla de Hainan, en el sur del país. Mide 16,6 metros de largo y tiene 4,2 metros de diámetro, siendo la nave espacial más grande que ha desarrollado China.
La cápsula será un centro de gestión y control de la estación espacial de Pekín llamada Tiangong o ‘Palacio celestial’ en chino, y podrá acoplar hasta tres naves espaciales a la vez por poco tiempo, o dos naves si se prevén estancias más largas.
