Según informan medios locales de la India las autoridades están investigando una aplicación donde decenas de mujeres musulmanas fueron ‘puestas a la venta’ en una subasta falsa el pasado 4 de julio.
Las imágenes de más de 100 mujeres se publicaron en una plataforma llamada Sulli Deals a través de GitHub, un portal que permite alojar proyectos de las aplicaciones de desarrolladores, conforme con las estimaciones de la Comisión de la Mujer de Delhi. Así, las fotografías de las afectadas constaban como «Sulli oferta del día», que es un término despectivo en la India, utilizado para referirse a las mujeres musulmanas.
A pesar de que la aplicación ya ha sido bloqueada por GitHub ante la infracción de las reglas del servicio sobre el acoso, la discriminación y la incitación a la violencia, docenas de mujeres fueron víctimas del ataque.
Sania Ahmad, una de las afectadas, señala que la aplicación podría haber sido creada por los troles en línea ultranacionalistas hindúes, que de acuerdo con su testimonio, desde hace tiempo bombardean a los musulmanes con mensajes abusivos.
De acuerdo con ThePrint, no es la primera vez que las mujeres musulmanas han sido atacadas de una manera similar, ya que la polarización social y política entre los musulmanes e hindúes sigue presente en el país.
