Al menos 68 personas fallecieron en la última semana en el estado indio de Uttar Pradesh, al norte del país, entre ellos 40 niños, a causa de una fiebre viral desconocida, comunicó el periódico The Times of India.
«Doce niños han muerto a causa de una fiebre viral en las últimas 24 horas. La causa exacta se está estudiando».
Se informa de 135 niños hospitalizados, de los cuales 72 están graves y «luchan por su vida».
El departamento de salud local especificó que la mayoría de los síntomas son fiebre alta, deshidratación y una caída del recuento de plaquetas en sangre; mientras que algunos pacientes presentan síntomas propios de la enfermedad del dengue: fiebre, dolor de cabeza, dolor muscular, nauseas y sarpullidos.
