El Instituto Nacional de Salud de Perú (INS), oficina adscrita al Ministerio de Salud, informó sobre el alto nivel de contagio de la variante delta del nuevo coronavirus (detectada en India), la de mayor predominancia en el país actualmente.
«Sabemos que es la variante más contagiosa, la más transmisible, con la capacidad de contagiar a entre 5 y 8 personas (por cada infectado).
Aquellas personas infectadas con delta tienen mayores unidades potencialmente infecciosas, un mecanismo que quiere decir mayor transmisión del virus», informó la infectóloga del INS, Lely Solari.
El INS indica que la variante delta ha logrado ser la más predominante en el país con un total de 534 casos detectados hasta la fecha y desplazando a las variantes lambda (detectada en Perú originalmente) y gamma, o conocida como variante brasileña.
A la fecha, Perú registra 199.156 decesos por la enfermedad respiratoria, 2.170.475 infectados y 9.722.564 de vacunados.
