Un usuario del metro de Nueva York fue sacado a empujones de una estación por dos policías luego de pedirles que portaran tapabocas.
En una grabación compartida en Twitter se observa a un agente agarrando de su chaqueta al hombre —quien tiene puesta una mascarilla— y llevándolo a la fuerza hacia una de las salidas de emergencia, mientras una segunda agente abre la puerta. Ninguno de los oficiales llevaba puesta mascarilla en ese momento.
El material audiovisual no registra las circunstancias exactas anteriores a la expulsión, pero el involucrado, Andrew Gilbert, quien explicó lo sucedido. Según Gilbert, mientras se dirigía a su trabajo el martes, notó a la pareja de uniformados sin mascarilla y decidió preguntarles por qué no la llevaban.
El hombre asegura que insistió a los policías en que «siguieran la ley» hasta que uno de ellos le dijo que estaba siendo «disruptivo» y luego de agarrarlo de la ropa lo empujó hacia fuera del sistema. «Me gritó: ‘¡Si no vas a tomar el tren, puedes irte!», contó.
El comisionado de Policía de la ciudad, Dermont Shea, calificó este miércoles el comportamiento de sus subordinados como «absolutamente inexcusable», aunque informó que ninguno de ellos será suspendido o despedido de su puesto. El departamento se negó a confirmar si hay una investigación sobre los oficiales.
