Los integrantes de la Misión de Observación Electoral de la Unión Europea (MOE-UE) que se encuentran en Venezuela se reunieron con autoridades locales y candidatos para evaluar la campaña de cara a los comicios regionales y municipales del 21 de noviembre.
El pasado 28 de octubre, la misión la UE desplegó a 44 observadores en todo este país sudamericano para realizar seguimiento a la campaña electoral.
La misión europea que acompañará todo el proceso estará conformada por 11 expertos electorales que arribaron a Caracas el 14 de octubre, los 44 que se encuentran desplegados en el país, y otro contingente de 34 personas que se sumarán como observadores de corto plazo.
El pasado 30 de septiembre, la MOE-UE y el CNE firmaron un acuerdo administrativo para garantizar la imparcialidad y objetividad de la misión europea.
Desde el 2006, la UE no participa como observador en las elecciones venezolanas. Además, desde el 2017 la UE ha desconocido los procesos electorales que se realizan en Venezuela, arguyendo falta de credibilidad y transparencia.
