Una sección de la Gran Muralla China se ha derrumbado en el noroeste del país a causa de un terremoto que se produjo la madrugada del sábado en la provincia de Qinghai.
De acuerdo a Global Times, tras el sismo, se desmoronaron dos metros de la antigua fortificación en el condado de Shandan, en la provincia de Gansú, a 114 kilómetros del epicentro registrado en el condado de Menyuan.
Los especialistas levantaron estructuras de apoyo y comenzaron las obras de restauración de la muralla perteneciente a la época de la dinastía Ming (1368-1644).
El movimiento telúrico se produjo a 10 kilómetros de profundidad y tuvo una magnitud de 6,4, según datos del Centro Sismológico Euromediterráneo.
Aunque el epicentro se encontraba en una zona poco poblada, un total de 217 viviendas han sido perjudicadas, igual que parte de carreteras locales, puentes y tuberías de suministro de agua.
Además, nueve personas resultaron heridas, y ocho de ellas ya han sido dadas de alta tras recibir asistencia médica.
