El Servicio Federal de Seguridad de Rusia (FSB, por sus siglas en ruso) desmanteló, por petición de Estados Unidos, el grupo de piratas informáticos REvil que se encarga de robar dinero utilizando malware.
«El FSB en cooperación con el Departamento de Investigación del Ministerio del Interior de Rusia se detuvo la actividad ilegal de los miembros del grupo delictivo organizado (…) REvil», informó el servicio de seguridad en un comunicado.
La nota añade que se estableció la composición completa del grupo y la implicación de sus miembros en la circulación ilegal de medios de pago.
El texto indica que la operación se llevó a cabo por petición de EEUU, que comunicó a Moscú sobre el líder de ese grupo criminal y su «participación en ataques [cibernéticos] a los recursos de información de empresas extranjeras de alta tecnología».
Según el comunicado, durante la operación, que se realizó en Moscú, San Petersburgo y sus provincias, así como la región de Lípetsk, fueron incautados 426 millones de rublos (más de 5,5 millones de dólares), 600.000 dólares, 500.000 euros y 20 automóviles de lujo, comprados por dinero robado.
La nota añade que Estados Unidos ya fue notificado sobre la liquidación del grupo.
