El Gobierno de los Estados Unidos prometió este domingo aplicar las “consecuencias apropiadas” por la muerte del periodista de ese país Brent Renaud, quien, según la policía de Kiev, fue abatido por fuerzas rusas en la localidad ucraniana de Irpin.
En una entrevista televisada, el asesor de seguridad nacional de la Casa Blanca, Jake Sullivan, dijo que lo ocurrido es “chocante y horroroso” y aseguró estar en contacto con las autoridades ucranianas para lograr más información al respecto que permita al Gobierno estadounidense tomar las “consecuencias apropiadas”.
La muerte de Renaud, de 51 años, fue confirmada inicialmente por la Policía de Kiev, quien culpó a las fuerzas rusas del suceso.
En un primer momento, se divulgó que era periodista de The New York Times, lo que posteriormente fue desmentido por dicho diario, con el que Renaud sí había colaborado, pero hace algunos años(2015).
