El foco original de la pandemia del Coronavirus fue China, pero en la actualidad América Latina se ha convertido en el espacio en donde el virus se desarrolla con mayor fuerza. En cuestión de meses el Covid-19 arropó países como Brasil, México y Perú, que figuran entre los países de mayor número de casos confirmados de todo el mundo.
¿Cómo se convirtió Latinoamérica en el centro de la pandemia?
Aunque varios gobiernos implementaron la cuarentena de manera rápida, muchos no calcularon el tiempo real en el que el virus caminaba en sus tierras, y decidieron implementar medidas que se llevaban en Europa, donde el Covid-19 estaba mucho más avanzado. Esto ha llevado a la necesidad de la reactivación económica y la desescalada en el momento del apogeo del virus.
Otro factor importante fue el fluyo de migración. Muchos latinoamericanos residentes en Europa decidieron regresar a sus países de origen, trayendo consigo el virus. Esto, mezclado con las fallas en los sistemas de salud latinoamericanos permitió que se perdiera un tiempo vital para reconocer el virus en los infectados.
Además, en algunas sociedades el mensaje de lo que es el Covid-19 no fue bien desarrollado. En algunas naciones se minimizó el virus al punto de conocerse como un simple resfriado, lo que creó un ambiente de soltura entre los habitantes.
