Un día como hoy, 10 de mayo de 1998, murió, a la edad de 61 años, José Francisco Peña Gómez en Cambita Garabitos, San Cristóbal, República Dominicana (RD). Fue un político, poeta, y orador dominicano, que pasó a la inmortalidad por su honestidad y gran liderazgo político.
También es recordado por su rol estelar como locutor cuando estalló la Revolución de Abril de 1965 en RD, donde llamó al pueblo a la insurrección popular en contra del golpe de Estado del presidente Juan Bosch.
