El Manchester City desveló este viernes una estatua dedicada a su antiguo delantero argentino Sergio Agüero, con motivo del décimo aniversario del gol anotado por el ‘Kun’ que dio su primera Premier League (en el formato actual) al club ‘citizen’.
«El Manchester City FC se complace en presentar en el Etihad Stadium una estatua permanente de la leyenda del club Sergio Agüero en el décimo aniversario del primer título de la Premier League del club y el icónico momento ’93:20′», indicó este viernes el Manchester City en un comunicado.
La estatua, instalada en la entrada del Etihad Stadium y realizada por el escultor Andy Scott, está formada por miles de piezas soldadas de acero galvanizado y representa al delantero argentino con el torso desnudo y la elástica en la mano celebrando aquel histórico gol.
Además, presenta un sistema de iluminación durante la noche con el color azul celeste del club. Durante sus años en el club de Manchester, al que llegó procedente del Atlético de Madrid, Agüero conquistó cinco títulos de la Premier, una FA Cup y seis Copas de la Liga.
«La contribución de Sergio Agüero al Manchester City en una era decisiva para el Club no puede ser exagerada. Es sin duda uno de los mejores jugadores», indicó el presidente del club Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
«La verdad es que para mí es algo muy bonito, verme hace 10 años es muy conmovedor», afirmó Agüero, de 33 años, actualmente retirado del fútbol luego de una dolencia cardíaca sufrida con el FC Barcelona, club en el que recaló en 2021 al concluir su etapa en Inglaterra.
«En esos 10 años pude ganar muchos trofeos y pude ayudar al Club a convertirse en uno de los más importantes del mundo», añadió el ‘Kun’ en la página de internet del City.
