Centenares de salvadoreños se manifestaron el martes coincidiendo con el Día Internacional contra la Homofobia, la Transfobia y la Bifobia.
Denuncian que la violencia generada por las pandillas y las fuerzas de seguridad agudiza su discriminación, y reclaman al Congreso de El Salvador que apruebe una ley de identidad de género.
«Un año para que legislen a favor de la ley del nombre y de la ley de identidad de las personas trans, tienen un año y vamos con cuenta regresiva porque nos vamos a ver en los espacios internacionales, porque esta deuda histórica la tienen que pagar, se ha derramado sangre, lucha y cuerpos de todas nuestras hermanas que han muerto o que han emigrado y que ya no está en El Salvador», manifestó la activista transgénero, Britany Castillo.
Los activistas consideran que aunque el Congreso archivó una antigua proposición por «obsoleta y no acorde con la realidad», todavía está a tiempo de tramitar el último anteproyecto de ley actualizado presentado el año pasado.
Se calcula que la ley de identidad de género beneficiaría a unas 2 000 personas en El Salvador.
