Ministros y funcionarios de nueve países sudamericanos anunciaron este jueves una «alianza estratégica» de cooperación en la lucha contra el crimen organizado transnacional, en un encuentro convocado por el gobierno brasileño en la capital.
Autoridades de Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Perú, Surinam y Uruguay, además del local, destacaron la «prioridad» en el combate a las actividades delictivas en múltiples territorios, y la necesidad de «implementar acciones concertadas», según la declaración enviada a la AFP por el ministerio de Justicia y Seguridad brasileño.
Argentina y Chile tuvieron representación, pero no rubricaron el documento, que sí validaron el secretario general de Interpol, Jurgen Stock, y el secretario ejecutivo de Ameripol, Marcio Nunes de Oliveira.
El anfitrión promovió el acercamiento en «una alianza contra el crimen, de carácter estratégico que expanda el sistema tradicional de vigilancia policial», describió el ministro de Justicia y Seguridad Pública de Brasil, Anderson Torres, en la apertura del evento que cerrará este viernes.
Esa alianza se propone «ampliar el intercambio de datos de inteligencia que permitan un mejor diagnóstico y prevención de los crímenes transnacionales», explicó.
Las autoridades sudamericanas que firmaron la declaración consideran, entre otras iniciativas, la propuesta de Brasil, de reunir a agentes de seguridad de los distintos países para trabajar juntos en el Centro de Cooperación Policial Internacional con sede en Rio de Janeiro.
El objetivo es favorecer «el intercambio de datos de inteligencia, acciones integradas y planeamiento de investigaciones criminales conjuntas», indicó Torres. Según el ministro brasileño, la colaboración permitirá desarrollar operaciones con resultados contundentes.
Citó como ejemplo la Operación Nueva Alianza entre Brasil y Paraguay, que secuestró del tráfico ilegal 5.400 toneladas de marihuana, equivalente a 162 millones de dólares, sobre 7.000 toneladas capturadas en el mundo en 2021, de acuerdo con datos de su ministerio. Los representantes de los nueve países convinieron mantener reuniones semestrales para evaluar el rumbo de la alianza.
