La Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) calificó el lunes de «fracaso» la intervención de la comunidad internacional ante la crisis política e institucional que enfrenta Haití.
«Los últimos 20 años de presencia de la comunidad internacional en Haití significan uno de los fracasos más fuertes y manifiestos que se haya implementado y ejecutado en ningún marco de cooperación internacional», señaló la OEA en un comunicado.
De acuerdo al organismo, la dura situación haitiana es el «resultado directo de las acciones de las fuerzas endógenas del país y de la comunidad internacional», manifestó, al tiempo que aclaró que esto no tiene que ver con «las personas que con vocación de servicio y afán altruista sirvieron como cooperantes y dejaron sus máximos esfuerzos, y hasta en algunos casos su vida, por Haití».
Para la OEA, el drama del país caribeño está relacionado con que, en 20 años de «estrategia política errada», la comunidad internacional no fue capaz de facilitar la construcción de «ninguna institución con capacidad de responder a los problemas de los haitianos».
Dos décadas después, «ni una sola institución es más fuerte de lo que lo era antes», indica el texto.
