El Salvador pasó de ser el más peligroso del mundo a convertirse en el más seguro de América, afirmó este martes el presidente salvadoreño, Nayib Bukele, ante la Asamblea General de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU).
Sin mencionar a potencias en particular, Bukele lamentó que otras naciones, a las que se refirió como «vecinos ricos», le exijan a El Salvador regresar a los años en que era conocida solamente por las pandillas, los muertos y el conflicto armado (1980-1992).
«El vecino rico no tiene autoridad para exigirle a su vecino pobre que regrese al pasado», recalcó el jefe de Estado, quien reiteró su opinión sobre lo obsoleto de la Asamblea General de la ONU, tal como hizo hace tres años, cuando se tomó un selfie en el estrado.
Bukele aludió en su mensaje a las críticas de la comunidad internacional al régimen de excepción que rige en El Salvador desde marzo pasado, durante el cual fueron restringidas ciertas garantías constitucionales, pero fueron arrestados más de 53.000 presuntos pandilleros y aumentó la percepción de seguridad.
