El número de muertes válidas en Uganda por el brote de ébola declarado el pasado 20 de septiembre ha aumentado a 10, indicó el jueves la Organización Mundial para la Salud (OMS).
El representante de la OMS para Uganda, Yonas Tegegn afirmó este jueves en una rueda de prensa telemática que “esas veinte muertes se trataban de personas que habían tenido contacto con pacientes de ébola o que presentaban algunos de sus síntomas».
«Pero desafortunadamente, murieron antes de que pudiésemos hacerles las pruebas para confirmar si tenían o no el virus».El país ha confirmado, hasta el momento, 44 casos de ébola.
Tegegn destacó el refuerzo en la respuesta de las autoridades ugandesas contra esta enfermedad durante las últimas semanas, pues «cerca de mil personas» que tuvieron contacto con pacientes positivos de ébola están siendo vigilados por los trabajadores sanitarios.
