En 2022, el Día Internacional se centrará en la meta G: Incrementar considerablemente la disponibilidad de los sistemas de alerta temprana sobre amenazas múltiples y de la información y las evaluaciones sobre el riesgo de desastres transmitidas a las personas, y el acceso a ellos, para 2030″.
La necesidad urgente de alcanzar este objetivo se vio reforzada en marzo de 2022 por el anuncio realizado por el Secretario General de la ONU, António Guterres, de que «las Naciones Unidas encabezarán una nueva acción para garantizar que cada persona de la Tierra esté protegida por sistemas de alerta temprana en un plazo de cinco años.»
