La violencia ha sido continúa desde que comenzó el año en el departamento colombiano del Arauca, fronterizo con Venezuela, donde existe una emergencia humanitaria y se ha anunciado la desaparición forzada de siete personas en las últimas semanas.
En un video institucional, el titular de la Defensoría del Pueblo, Carlos Camargo, afirmó su preocupación por la «situación alarmante» en ese departamento y afirmó que los «grupos armados ilegales» que operan en esa entidad estarían detrás de las siete desapariciones forzadas ocurridas recientemente.
Camargo aseguró que posiblemente la cifra sea «mucho mayor» debido a que la población civil no hace las denuncias ante los órganos de seguridad, ya que teme las «posibles represalias» de los actores armados en disputa por el control territorial.
