El Ministerio de Exteriores de Rusia ha garantizado que el uso de armamento nuclear estaría justificado en caso de ser objetivo de un hipotético ataque de potencias extranjeras que pusiera en peligro su existencia.
Según informa la cartera diplomática rusa en un comunicado, el protocolo nuclear del país indica que el hipotético uso de armamento atómico se daría en todo caso con fines defensivos y como respuesta a ataques «de armas de destrucción masivas o una agresión con uso de armas convencionales» que pongan en peligro su propia existencia como Estado.
«Los enfoques doctrinales rusos en este sentido se definen con la máxima precisión» y no dan lugar a «una interpretación expansiva», ha afirmado Moscú, quien ha incidido en que su Ejército está «guiado estricta y consistentemente por el principio de que en una guerra nuclear no puede haber ganadores y nunca debe desencadenarse».
