El secretario de Seguridad Pública del estado mexicano de Aguascalientes, Porfirio Javier Sánchez Mendoza, perdió la vida, tras desplomarse el helicóptero en el que viajaba.
La información fue confirmada por la gobernadora de la entidad, María Teresa Jiménez, en una conferencia de prensa que presentó poco después del siniestro. Indicó que al momento del accidente Sánchez realizaba tareas rutinarias de seguridad.
Según Jiménez, la aeronave que se accidentó era el ‘Águila 1’ de la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) estatal y, además de Sánchez, en el siniestro perdieron la vida otras cuatro personas.
Las demás víctimas fueron: el piloto Olegario Andrade Zamorano, el capitán Víctor Manuel Valdez Sánchez y los artilleros Juan Humberto Rincón Martínez y Alejandro Serafín Guerrero.
