El expresidente del Banco Central de Brasil, Ilan Goldfajn, ha sido elegido este domingo como nuevo presidente del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID). Goldfajn será el primer brasileño en dirigir la institución, con sede en Washington, que financia proyectos de desarrollo en el continente.
Los otros cuatro candidatos al cargo eran Cecilia Todesca Bocco, secretaria de Relaciones Económicas Internacionales de la Cancillería argentina; Gerardo Esquivel, uno de los directores del Banco Central de México; el exministro de Economía chileno Nicolás Eyzaguirre; y el trinitense Gerard Johnson, antiguo miembro del BID.
