La decisión que España tomó en octubre de 2020 de no enviar sustituto para el entonces embajador saliente de Venezuela, Jesús Silva, es «susceptible de revertirse», siempre y cuando haya «un dialogo entre venezolanos» para poder «avanzar por la senda democrática», declaró este sábado el ministro español de Asuntos Exteriores, José Manuel Albares, en referencia a la reanudación este fin de semana de las negociaciones entre el Gobierno de Maduro y la oposición.
«España no quiere verse sin embajador en un país hermano de América Latina, ni en Venezuela ni en ningún otro», afirmó Albares en una entrevista con El País.
La Cancillería española tomó aquella decisión hace dos años después de que Madrid no reconociera a Nicolás Maduro, como presidente legítimo del país, al considerar que las elecciones de 2018, en las que salió reelegido, no fueron «justas ni transparentes».
