El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Italia, Antonio Tajani, declaró este domingo en el marco de la 59.ª Conferencia de Seguridad de Múnich que sería un error dejar el continente africano en manos de China y agregó que enfocarse en ese continente «es crucial para el futuro» europeo.
Tajani además destacó la importancia de la unidad en la Unión Europea.
Según el canciller italiano, los tres puntos clave de la soberanía estratégica europea son «la seguridad», «la estabilidad» y «el crecimiento».
«La seguridad implica proteger nuestras fronteras al este y al sur, dado los problemas de la inmigración ilegal […] La seguridad también significa estabilidad en los Balcanes Occidentales, porque estamos cerca de esta región europea, donde hay muchos países candidatos a la adhesión a la UE», aseveró. También indicó que la seguridad consiste en el «compromiso» de su país en la lucha contra organizaciones terroristas como el Estado Islámico y Al Qaeda.
