El Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) incrementó hoy de cinco a once las provincias en alerta, debido a las lluvias causadas por una vaguada y los efectos de una onda tropical que afectó recientemente el país.
Santo Domingo y el Distrito Nacional se encuentran en alerta amarilla, mientras que en verde están La Romana, Dajabón, Santiago, San Pedro de Macorís, Valverde, Elías Piña, La Altagracia, Santiago Rodríguez y San Cristóbal.
El COE tomó la medida por posibles crecidas de ríos, arroyos y cañadas, así como inundaciones repentinas o urbanas, debido a que la humedad e inestabilidad podrían ocasionar nublados, aguaceros moderados a fuertes, tormentas eléctricas y ráfagas de viento.
Ante esta situación, el organismo aconsejó a las personas abstenerse de cruzar ríos, arroyos y cañadas que presenten alto volúmenes de agua y no hacer uso de balnearios en las provincias bajo alerta.
