La Coordinación Nacional de Protección Civil de México (CNPC) emitió hoy una Declaratoria de Emergencia para el estado de Guerrero tras el paso del devastador huracán Otis.
Según el organismo, la declaratoria fue motivada «por la presencia de lluvia severa y vientos fuertes el día 24 de octubre de 2023». «Con esta acción se activan los recursos del Programa para la Atención de Emergencias por Amenazas Naturales», agrega el texto.
Con esos recursos, se dará atención inicial a Acapulco de Juárez, el municipio más afectado por el paso del huracán.
El fenómeno tocó tierra en el turístico Acapulco, en la costa del Pacífico, a las 00:25 [hora local] del miércoles.
Las autoridades han descrito el comportamiento del Otis como algo atípico, puesto que, en menos de 12 horas, pasó de tormenta tropical a huracán categoría 5, causando estragos en diversas infraestructuras.
Al mediodía del miércoles, según el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, el huracán se había debilitado nuevamente a tormenta tropical; y para las 15:00 horas ya se consideraba baja presión remanente.
Durante la conferencia de prensa matutina de este jueves del presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador, la secretaria de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana de México, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, informó que el paso del Otis dejó al menos 27 personas fallecidas y cuatro desaparecidas.
Igualmente, precisó que hubo afectaciones a carreteras, hospitales, hoteles y centros comerciales, así como a sensores del Sistema de Alerta Sísmica Mexicano (SASMEX).
