República Dominicana. – Miembros del Ejército de este país, adscritos a la Dirección de Inteligencia G2, confiscaron un cargamento que supera los 6,2 millones de unidades de cigarrillos de la marca ‘Capital’, con un valor estimado de 93,6 millones de pesos.
Esta incautación es catalogada como una de las más grandes en la historia en términos de cantidad.
Respecto a las declaraciones oficiales, estos cigarrillos fueron incautados en un centro de acopio en la ciudad de Santo Domingo, tras una exhaustiva labor de inteligencia.
Por el hecho, fueron detenidas varias personas para fines de investigación, cuyos datos no pueden ser revelados para preservar la integridad del proceso que aún permanece en curso.
El Comandante General del Ejército, Mayor Gral. Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, junto al Director de Inteligencia, G-2, Gral. de Brig. Pablo Roberto Jiménez Sánchez, entregaron el cargamento al Director General del Cuerpo Especializado de Control de Combustibles y Comercio de Mercancías (CECCOM), Gral. De Brig. César A. Miranda Mañón, para luego ser traspasado al Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Mipymes, dándole cumplimiento a lo establecido en el Decreto No. 55-21, de fecha 2 de febrero de 2021, para su correspondiente proceso de destrucción.
