El dominicano Albert Pujols, «La Máquina» o «Tío Abert», como es conocido, puso fin el sábado a una de las carreras más brillantes en la historia del béisbol de Grandes Ligas.
Luego de una carrera de 22 años, que lo sitúa entre los más grandes bateadores que han pisado un terreno de Grandes Ligas, el toletero de 42 años se despidió del béisbol en el Busch Stadium de San Luis, ante el público que lo apoyó desde el día 1 y con quienes vivió los momentos más grandes de su carrera en MLB.
Con un promedio de bateo de .296 en 22 campañas, Pujols ocupa el segundo lugar de todos los tiempos en carreras remolcaras, con 2.218, sustentadas en las 14 temporadas en las que remolcó 100 o más carreras.
Sus 703 tablazos de vuelta completa, colocan a Pujols en la tercera posición de todos los tiempos.
