«¡Hice el esfuerzo y los errores necesarios para estar donde estoy hoy y estoy orgulloso de ello!», tuiteó el futbolista. «He escrito mi historia y la nuestra se acaba», añadió.

El mensaje llega un día después de que la selección francesa perdiera la final de la Copa del Mundo de Catar 2022 ante Argentina. Benzema, el actual poseedor del Balón de Oro, se perdió el Mundial debido a una lesión en las vísperas del torneo.
