El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Bahamas informó este sábado que sus siete diplomáticos en Haití, incluida la esposa del encargado de negocios, fueron trasladados en helicóptero desde Puerto Príncipe a República Dominicana.
La evacuación se produce tan solo un día después de que el Gobierno de Bahamas ordenara la salida inmediata, o tan pronto como las condiciones de seguridad lo permitieran, de todo su personal diplomático de Haití, que está inmerso en una espiral de violencia.
Exteriores expresó hoy en un comunicado su “profunda gratitud y máxima consideración” al presidente dominicano, Luis Abinader, y al canciller Roberto Álvarez, “por la ejecución de este proceso” de evacuación.
Según la nota, los diplomáticos aterrizaron “sanos y salvos” en República Dominicana y llegarán “pronto” a Bahamas. La cartera de Exteriores explicó ayer que se trata de “una medida temporal a la luz de los desarrollos recientes que requieren una evaluación y reorganización de la seguridad».
