Un día como hoy, 26 de septiembre 1902, murió a los 73 años de edad, Levi Strauss, en San Francisco, California, Estados Unidos. Fue un empresario textil germano-estadounidense, que pasó a la inmortalidad por ser el creador del pantalón vaquero (1873), cuya idea fue del sastre Jacob Davis.
El pantalón vaquero, conocido popular mente como Jean, en una primera etapa solo lo usaban los hombres; el uso por parte de las mujeres data de 1935, en los Estados Unidos, pero es a partir de 1960 cuando se registró la revolución del pantalón femenino, que vino de la mano del movimiento hippy. Definitivamente, el pantalón vaquero es un producto exitoso.
Termino esta nota con un pensamiento del empresario estadounidense Henry Ford: “Está bien celebrar el éxito, pero es más importante prestar atención a las lecciones del fracaso”.
