Las potentes lluvias que desde el lunes afectan a Honduras han dejado hasta este sábado cuatro personas fallecidas, dos desaparecidas y más de 42.000 afectadas, de acuerdo al último balance del Cuerpo de Bomberos y la Asociación de Municipios de Honduras (Amhon).
El Cuerpo de Bomberos de Honduras anunció que esta tarde localizó el cuerpo de un hombre de 24 años que había sido arrastrado por el río Cuyamel en el municipio de Quimistan, departamento de Santa Bárbara, en el occidente del país centroamericano.
De las cuatro personas fallecidas, tres murieron ahogadas y una en un derrumbe, según un informe de los bomberos que no precisa más detalles de las víctimas.
Dos personas están desaparecidas por las lluvias, señaló el Cuerpo de Bomberos, que reporta además una docena de deslizamientos, 9 derrumbes y 16 inundaciones.
Hay más de 42.000 personas afectadas por las lluvias causadas por un frente frío y un sistema de baja presión que afecta al país centroamericano, donde 189 viviendas resultaron dañadas, según un informe de la Amhon.
Muchas de las familias afectadas permanecen resguardadas en albergues, mientras que otras se encuentran en viviendas de familiares o amigos, según los organismos de socorro.
También han sido afectadas alrededor de 65 tramos de carreteras debido a los derrumbes de tierra y rocas, 15 centros educativos.
Ante las constantes lluvias, la presidenta hondureña, Xiomara Castro, ordenó activar el Sistema Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos (Sinager) para atender la emergencia por las precipitaciones.
La coordinadora residente de las Naciones Unidas en Tegucigalpa, Alice Shackelford, se solidarizó con el país centroamericano por la emergencia y señaló que la Red Humanitaria está apoyando al Sinager para atender a los afectados por las lluvias.
Conforme al Centro de Estudios Atmosféricos, Oceanográficos y Sísmicos (Cenaos), las lluvias continuarán afectando el territorio hondureño por al menos 48 horas más.
