La atleta dominicana Marileidy Paulino, ganadora de los 400 metros de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, rechazó este lunes el racismo hacia los deportistas de su país por el color negro de su piel.
En su cuenta de Twitter, Paulino señaló que «a las personas no deberían juzgarlas por su color de piel», en un escrito que acompañó de una fotografía de la atleta de salto alto Marysabel Senyu, quien conquistó el título en la justa regional en El Salvador.
En vez de manifestar su racismo, dijo, deberían apoyar y halagar a toda esa juventud que lucha día a día, y con familias que esperan el pan comprado con el sacrificio de los atletas.
Paulino expresó su malestar este domingo, luego de que que Senyu recibiera críticas en las redes sociales por su procedencia y color, aunque no precisó quien lo hizo, y tampoco los medios de prensa locales se refirieron a personas o grupos en específico.
La reina de los 400 metros a nivel mundial recalcó que cada día el ser humano pierde la empatía y afirmó que «no importa el color de la piel, pues cada quien lucha y con una carga que nadie se imagina».
Criticó que «a los que no son negros y no son 100 por ciento dominicanos sí quieren aplaudirlos», y pidió respeto para los deportistas.
«Al final todos nos iremos al mismo lugar que es la muerte, no importa si se es blanco o negro, rico o pobre, gordo o flaco, alto o bajito «, indicó Paulino, quien impuso un nuevo récord en el torneo regional y obtuvo su boleto para los Juegos Olímpicos de París, 2024.
Cabe recordar que Senyu, de 23 años de edad, completó un salto de 1.86 metros, que le dio la presea dorada, su primera en Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe.
