La Corte Permanente de Arbitraje de La Haya ordenó a Rusia el pago de una indemnización de 5.000 millones de dólares a la empresa pública energética ucraniana Naftogaz por confiscar sus bienes en la península ucraniana de Crimea, ocupada por Rusia desde 2014.
“Pese a los esfuerzos de Rusia por obstruir la acción de la justicia, la Corte Permanente de Arbitraje ha obligado a la Federación Rusa a compensar a Naftogaz por la confiscación de sus bienes en Crimea en 2014”, indicó la empresa pública ucraniana en un comunicado.
De acuerdo a Naftogaz, la indemnización es la más alta dictada jamás por este tribunal internacional de arbitraje establecido en 1899 por numerosos Gobiernos para la resolución de disputas y desacuerdos entre Estados.
Más de 120 Estados, entre ellos Rusia, son parte del tribunal, que ha calculado la indemnización atendiendo al valor en el mercado en el momento de la expropiación de los bienes de Naftogaz que se apropió Rusia cuando se anexionó la península de Crimea.
