Una oportuna derrota que impedirá al conjunto caribeño, cuartofinalista en los pasados Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio, repetir la quinta plaza que logró en el año 2014 en Italia, la mejor actuación de la República Dominicana en unos Mundiales.
Objetivo que las de Marcos Roberto Kwiek parecieron en disposición de poder obtener tras imponerse en la primera manga por 25-18.
La destreza de Gaila González, máxima realizadora del encuentro con 28 puntos, no pudo impedir que Canada diera la vuelta al marcador (1-2) tras alzarse con los dos siguientes sets por 23-25 y 17-25.
En cambio, la República Dominicana no estaba dispuesta a rendirse tan pronto y de la mano de Brayelin Martínez, que se convirtió en la mejor aliada de Gaila González, forzó la quinta y definitiva manga tras imponerse por 27-25 en el cuarto parcial.
En la manga final se disolvieron todas las opciones del conjunto dominicano con el contundente parcial de 0-7 que encajó y que situó a Canadá con una ventaja de ocho puntos 8-13 que ya fue inmejorable para las de Marcos Roberto Kwiek.
