La Unión Europea convocará para este martes 17 a una cumbre de emergencia a nivel de jefes de Estado y Gobierno del bloque para tratar la nueva crisis en Oriente Medio y los desafíos que plantea a la seguridad europea, informó este sábado el jefe del Consejo Europeo, Charles Michel.
En una carta de invitación al encuentro que se realizará en formato de videoconferencia, se destaca la importancia de «elaborar una postura común y establecer un claro curso de acción que aborde la complejidad de la situación».
Igualmente, se discutirán las consecuencias de seguridad para los países del bloque, pues consideran que el conflicto puede «agravar tensiones entre comunidades y fomentar el extremismo», así como desencadenar una nueva ola de migración hacia Europa, precisa el documento.
