El Gobierno de Venezuela instó a las autoridades españolas a cumplir con el tratado de extradición establecido entre ambos países en 1990.
«Aprovecho para que las autoridades jurisdiccionales del Reino de España respeten las exigencias del ordenamiento legal venezolano y extraditen a los delincuentes que escapan y huyen de la justicia venezolana y residen hoy en aquel país», indicó el canciller venezolano, Félix Plasencia, en declaraciones ofrecidas a la prensa.
Esta solicitud fue hecha horas después de que el jefe de la Misión Diplomática de Venezuela, Mauricio Rodríguez, fue recibido por el rey Felipe VI de España, como parte de la recepción protocolar de los embajadores.
