Cada año, se promueven dos temas diferentes: uno propuesto como tema de campaña por el sitio web del Día Internacional de la Mujer que este año es “abrazar la equidad”, y el tema oficial de la observancia del día de la ONU, que este año es “DigitALL: Innovación y tecnología por la igualdad de género”.
La ONU informó que el tema para el 8 de marzo de 2023 es “Por un mundo digital inclusivo: Innovación y tecnología para la igualdad de género”, en consonancia con el tema prioritario del sexagésimo séptimo período de sesiones de la Comisión de la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer: “La innovación y el cambio tecnológico, y la educación en la era digital para alcanzar la igualdad de género y el empoderamiento de todas las mujeres y niñas”.
