Cinco de ellos eran hijos de Dwayne y el mayor, que por entonces tenía 13 años, era hijo del propio Conley.
Los cuerpos fueron hallados por agentes de policía que habían acudido a la vivienda a realizar un control tras recibir múltiples llamadas.
Conley, que aún estaba dentro de la casa, se enfrentó a los oficiales a tiros, pero al final se rindió y fue arrestado.
El motivo de los asesinatos aún no está claro, pero las autoridades creen que tuvo que ver con la anterior relación sentimental entre Conley y Valerie Jackson.
«¿Cómo puede alguien mirar a los ojos a los niños […] y matarlos uno por uno?», se preguntó la fiscal Kim Ogg. «Siempre estaremos en deuda con los miembros del jurado que escucharon las pruebas atroces, deliberaron cuidadosamente y dieron justicia».
