Las autoridades colombianas informaron que Dairo Antonio Úsuga David, alias ‘Otoniel’, considerado el narcotraficante más buscado de Colombia, fue capturado este sabado.
El presidente de Colombia, Iván Duque, tildó el hecho como «la captura más importante a nivel mundial» de un líder narcotraficante, el «golpe más duro al narcotráfico en este siglo en Colombia» y «comparable solo con la caída de Pablo Escobar».
Otoniel, de 49 años, es el máximo jefe del clan del Golfo, red criminal dedicada al narcotráfico y que cuenta con presencia en al menos 124 municipios de Colombia, según varias estimaciones.
En su prontuario, está haber sigo guerrillero de izquierda, luego paramilitar de extrema derecha y por último líder de esta banda narcotraficante, que surgió tras la desmovilización de las milicias de esta tendencia política en el 2006.
EEUU ofreció hasta cinco millones de dólares por información sobre su ubicación, mientras que en Colombia la recompensa era de hasta 3.000 millones de pesos (unos 795.000 dólares).
Su captura fue parte de una operación macro llamada Agamenón, cuyo objetivo era aprehender o dar muerte al sujeto y otros miembros de su red criminal. Varios de sus hombres de la primera línea de mando han fallecido o han sido detenidos, como alias Gavilán, abatido en septiembre del 2017, y El Indio, quien murió en un operativo en marzo de 2018.
