Kyle Clinkscales, de 22 años, desapareció el 27 de enero de 1976. Había salido ese día de la ciudad de LaGrange, en Georgia, en su Ford Pinto Runabout blanco y modelo 1974, hacia la Universidad de Auburn, donde estudiaba, a unos 72 kilómetros de distancia.
