Un día como hoy, 28 de enero de 1853, nació José Julián Martí Pérez en la Habana, Cuba. Fue un político, filósofo, periodista, poeta, escritor y luchador independentist, que pasó a la inmortalidad como el “Padre de la Independencia de Cuba”.
Para Martí la educación es una “función social transformadora de las condiciones socioculturales y económicas de la población”. Siempre planteó que el currículo educativo debe propiciar “la formación humanista, artística, política, científica y técnica”. Por esa visión y planteamientos filosóficos, los cubanos lo bautizaron como “El maestro”.
Termino esta nota con un pensamiento de José Martí: “La educación es libertad”.
