Un paciente de un hospital psiquiátrico en Zimbabue, identificado como Courage Mutsaru, escapó el pasado 22 de enero del centro médico y, aparentemente, perdió la vida mientras intentaba cruzar un río habitado por cocodrilos, informan medios locales.
«El 22 de enero, aproximadamente a las 6:00 p. m., dos pacientes mentales se escaparon del centro psiquiátrico de Ngomahuru. Al cabo de unos 10 minutos, cuando era hora de administrarles su medicación, el personal se dio cuenta de que los dos habían desaparecido», anunció el portavoz de la Policía local de la provincia de Masvingo, Kudakwashe Dhewa.
«[Los médicos] denunciaron la desaparición a la Policía. Unos 30 minutos más tarde, el organismo recibió una llamada por parte de vecinos que comunicaron que habían visto a una persona con la ropa de hospital intentando cruzar el río Tugwi», señaló el oficial.
Según la persona que se comunicó con las autoridades, vieron a la víctima ser atacada por un cocodrilo. Sin embargo, cuando los agentes acudieron al lugar, solo lograron recuperar del agua la ropa hospitalaria. Sin embargo, la policía sigue buscando los restos de Mutsaru.
Hasta la fecha, se desconoce el paradero del otro paciente, pero, según fuentes no confirmadas, el hombre está en su casa, ubicada en la capital zimbabuense, Harare.
