Un día como hoy, 29 de marzo de 1985, murió, a la edad de 51 años, Jeanne-Paule Marie Deckers (Sor Sonrisa) en Bélgica. Fue una monja y cantante belga, autora de la canción “Dominique”, que compuso en honor a Santo Domingo de Guzmán, fundador de la Orden de Predicadores (los dominicos), congregación religiosa a la que ella pertenecía.
La canción Dominique se convirtió en un éxito mundial, y esa fue la desgracia de Sor Sonrisa, ya que el gobierno belga le exigió el pago de una alta suma de dinero de impuestos por los beneficios de la canción; situación que se sumó a otros motivos y provocó la salida de sor Sonrisa del convento y posterior suicidio.
