El vocero llamó a la comunidad internacional a no hacer caso omiso al asunto palestino ni olvidarlo y prestarle más atención, calificándolo de «una injusticia histórica que se ha dilatado por más de medio siglo y no debe continuar».
Las tensiones han ido en aumento en Jerusalén en las recientes semanas, con enfrentamientos entre palestinos y fuerzas de seguridad en la Explanada de las mezquitas, y con las grandes masas de gente llegada a la ciudad por las festividades del Ramadán, musulmán, y las Pascuas, tanto judía como cristiana, que este año coinciden.
Además, el Ejército israelí ha reforzado sus redadas en Cisjordania, en busca de los implicados en varios atentados acontecidos en Israel en los últimos días.
Para este 20 de abril está prevista una marcha ultranacionalista judía por la Ciudad Vieja de Jerusalén, en contra de las órdenes de la Policía israelí.
Según informes del noticiario de la radio nacional Kan, la Policía ha vetado la ruta que los organizadores de la marcha proponían y ofrecieron una alternativa que, por lo que parece, los líderes de la marcha ignoran.
El movimiento islamista Hamás, gobernante de facto en Gaza, advirtió que tiene «el dedo en el gatillo».
